Biography
DJ Dimitri started his musical career in 1983 at the age of 16,
mixing funk and hip-hop tracks for the Dutch ABC radio station.
Two years later he was involved with the famous Dutch hip-hop
band " Freakaristic " where he gained national fame as
one of the best scratchers in Holland. 1988 was Dimitri's first
appearances at the newly opened house temple " Roxy "
in Amsterdam. Roxy offered him his own Friday night and from
there on Roxy's door saw queues for more than a hundred meters.
After gaining more and more respect Dimitri became the leading
house DJ in Holland. 1991 started Dimitri playing already for
party's in Ibiza. Later on that year he mixed his first
CD-compilation for the Amsterdam label "Go Bang" and
started his own label " Be.S.T. " (Beautiful Soul
Techno).
The label has his own definite sound, which was copied
immediately in Techno town number one Detroit. Be.S.T released
tracks like : Alice D. in Wonderland " Time Problem ".
After Dimitri's second record with the song " Given Flowers
For You " his label became an even bigger success. In
December 1992 started Dimitri his own record shop and new label
" Outland Records". In 1993 finished Dimitri mixing and
releasing three Outland compilations. He still found some time
playing in the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium and in
the Caribbean. 1994 released Dimitri smash club hits like "
Disco Train and " Fluid Harmony " as well remixes of
the Chanelle hit " Work that Body " and " Romy
Luna ". He mixed again four different CD-compilations the
same year. 1995 became Dimitri resident DJ at the UK club "
Renaissance" together with John Digweed & Sascha.

Dimitri - Amsterdam / Outland Records
1983-1987
DJ Dimitri started his musical carrier at the age of 16, mixing
funk and hip-hop tracks for the Dutch ABC radio station. Working
at the import department of Atalos Music store gave him from his
early age an insight to the world's most up front and innovative
dance music.
1985
Dimitri was involved with the infamous Dutch hip-hop band
"freakaristic" where he gained national fame as one of
the best scratchers in Holland.
He became head-DJ at the "Herr van Jericho", a high
quality club in Dutch beach resort Bergen aan Zee, and started to
make radio mixes for radio Decibel ( Amsterdam's number one dance
station ) as well for the Doul Show at the national TROS radio.
1988
In this year DJ Dimitri got a steady job at the exclusive Club
Richter, as well as his first appearances at the newly opened
house temple of Holland, Roxy both in Amsterdam.
1989
Success in Amsterdam made it possible for him to get gigs abroad.
Italy became very fond of his style, which involved him in the
first warehouse party scene of this Latin country.
1990
Roxy offered DJ Dimitri his own night, every Friday night the
Roxy door saw queues for than a hundred meters. He became one of
the leading house DJ's in Holland. Foreign gigs including in
Italy: Kinky, Bologna, Byblos, Riccione, Palace, Genoa and the
Imperial in Pisa, in Belgium among many others Cafe D'Anvers in
Antwerp.
1991
DJ work included the best parties in Holland, Belgium and Italy.
This year brought him for the first time to party paradise Ibiza,
where he worked at the Pacha and Ku. Dimitri mixed his
compilation CD for the Amsterdam label Go Bang and started his
own label Be.S.T. ( Beautiful Soul Techno ). The label has his
own definite sound, which, was copied immediately in Techno town
number one Detroit. First release was " So Lonely by Numbers
& Feelings, which hit several underground charts in Holland
and England and became a club hit.
1992
DJ work included, as the previous year, Holland, Belgium, Italy
and Ibiza and for the first time Switzerland, Frankfurt (Omen)
and Paris. Home base Club Roxy, gave him his first own club night
on Thursdays called the Hi tech Soul Movement in cooperation with
one of the best party organizers in Holland, Elelko Anceaux.
Be.S.T saw the releases of Alice D. in Wonderland " Time
Problem " ( which became a hit in Holland, Belgium and the
UK. Dimitri Presents " Page3/4 ", of which the "
Given Flowers for you " became an even bigger success. In
December of the same year Dimitri started his own record shop and
label Outland records together with Pieter Hoovers. the label's
first release was Chiquita - "Cavity".
1993
DJ work went global this year, including a new year party on the
beach on the Caribbean Island Curacao, the UK ( Ministry of
Sound, Lost and the Drum Club, Pure in Edinburgh, the Arches in
Glasgow, Space in Ibiza, in Detroit U.S.A. at Industry and on a
party of his friend Derrick May, Cologne, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf,
Munich, Paris, Geneva, Zurich, etc. Dimitri DJ-ed as well at the
Euro Disney Rave near Paris Record releases included Concerto in
E - "Staccato Please, a remix of "carousel" and
three compilation Cd's."Static Tracks", Spiritual
Tracks 1, Spiritual Tracks 2.
1994
DJ work, Heidelberg, Dusseldorf, Cologne,, UK - Luv Dup, Club
UK., Ministry of Sound, Sir Henry's Cork (Ireland), Space, Ku,
Amnesia, Pacha, Ibiza in Spain, France - Warehouse Raves/Paris,
Nimes. Israel Ku and Lemon in Tel Aviv and U.S.A. (World Cup
Party, Detroit). Record releases included Dimitri and Jaimy
"Don't Be A Prisoner Of Your Own Style" with the smash
club hit's "Disco Train" and " Fluid Harmony
", remixes of the Chanelle hit "Work Your Body"
and " Roma Luna" , compilation CD's: Lovelball , Static
Tracks 2, Spiritual Tracks 3.
1995

Dimitri becomes resident DJ of the club Renaissance together with
John Digweed & Sascha. He is also involved in Amsterdam's new
club Chemistry. More CD releases Static Tracks 3 & 4 and
Spiritual Tracks 4. Voted as one of the worlds best DJ's by
several magazines.
